trending now...drunk elephant
It was a rainy, Wednesday afternoon, my kids were acting like a whining trio of prairie dogs and I was, by all accounts, on the verge of utter insanity. As extreme luck would have it, I had booked my babysitter for the next couple of hours. Perfect scenario for some therapeutic Sephora splurging. I practically twirled into the store when I got smacked in the face with some drunk little elephants. No, no- my kids had not followed me there, the drunk little elephants I'm speaking of is this season's trendiest skincare line. I was in no condition to resist such a tempting sight. The packaging alone, with its bright orange and pink hues, and a cute baby elephant as it's logo, was enough for me to start rearranging the family budget in my head...Did my husband really need new contacts this month? Was a goopy eye with a slight droop really reason to panic? Exactly. Priorities.
As I prepared to impulsively buy the entire drunk elephant skincare line, I reached deep, deep within my soul and tapped into that thing called self-control. I wasn't tapping far enough...until thankfully, Tiraji, a fabulous, Sephora specialist sensed my impracticality and came to my rescue. After some sense was talked into me, I walked out with just the drunk elephant day serum and enough samples to sink a small ship. Tiraji- my husband sincerely thanks you...ok but seriously, he has no idea about my recent purchase! Worry about YA self! Below is a review of drunk elephant's three most popular products. Needless to say, I'm impressed and I'll be heading back for more soon!
Drunk Elephant C: Firma Day Serum. Wait what? We need a DAY serum too? Ugh, I'm so tired. After washing my face, and even remembering to exfoliate (applause please), I applied drunk elephant’s day serum and was actually a little blown away. First off, I loved the non-oily texture and how fast it absorbed into my skin. Secondly, it truly made my skin feel more firm (that is assuming my skin was ever firm to begin with) in a non-drying way. Thirdly, it evened out my skin tone. After using this serum religiously for a couple of weeks, I am grateful for buying it in a full size, and I genuinely would repurchase.
T.L.C Framboos Glycol Night Serum: Admittingly, I had just bought my second bottle of Sunday Riley’s Good Genes serum that I use at night, so I settled for a two week sample supply of drunk elephant's night serum. The instructions said to apply to a dry face and believe me that made a difference. I really liked the texture of the serum; I found it non-irritating and less oily. At first, my skin succumbed to a minor break out and my pores actually appeared more clogged. But as I continued to use for another week, these aforementioned problems ceased. I finished my last application a night ago, and I am so happy to report that my skin is glowy, smooth and unclogged…..now what to do about the supremely greasy mop atop my head…T.L.C Sukari Babyfacial: I am so shallow. I immediately flocked to this face mask solely because of it's adorable packaging and big promises. Once again, my favorite Sephora beauty specialist convinced me to try a sample first. She also confided to me that she was not 100% sold on this mask. Her insight was…if you never exfoliate, or treat your skin to peels etc, you are going to think this mask is the greatest thing since the bar scene in Top Gun (ok, she didn't reference Top Gun...but I'm allowed to add my personal touch right?). However, she continued, if you regularly take care of your skin, you’re going to be less impressed. Here are my thoughts. By now, you should know that I believe in a daily multi-step facial routine, so for the most part my skin is in pretty decent shape. However, when I first applied this mask- holy crap, my face was ablaze...for about 20 seconds and then I just felt some tingling. And to me that says progress! When I washed off DE's babyfacial, my face was red and I began to panic. I had a photo shoot two days later. Thankfully, I heeded my own advice and used this mask BEFORE my big event (...stay tuned on my "big event" details, oh dahling- what cooould it be?). My skin calmed quickly and actually I really liked the radiance I was sporting afterwards. I say buy it if it's in your budget or you just need something to get you over a rainy hump day.
All in all- I really love this trendy new brand. Drunk Elephant's ingredients actually live up to its perfection packaging. And the fact that their skincare is sans scent is a good thing...our skin could use a break from all of our other toxic habits.
