MASKED
Masks are always a good idea, assuming you have the time, the energy (just keeping it real here), and you don't have any children lazing around who are easily spooked. When used properly, an "at-home" mask routine can easily replace a pricey signature facial at a spa. Hooray! I recommend a stellar mask regimen a day or two BEFORE the big event to really get you in the glow. Below is a step-by-step guide on the masks I use, in the order I use them. To be noted: preparation is key. I make sure to thoroughly wash and exfoliate my hackneyed skin before applying these products. Extra credit if you incorporate the Clarisonic.
Origins Original Skin™ Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay: The first step in any mask routine should be a clay mask and I really love this one. Remember those Biore pore strips? You'd apply a strip of sticky paper to your nose, tear it off and BOOM- off came dozens of tiny, waxy balls. Ahhh, pure satisfaction. Well this clay mask from Origins, kind of does the same thing. It is a powerhouse when it comes to cleaning out those filthy, little pores and clarifying skin. Apply in circular motions, leave on for up to 10 minutes (AVOIDING the eye area for the love of God!!!) and wash off. Pat skin dry in preparation for step 2.
REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask: Now that your skin is squeaky clean from using the Origins clay mask, it's time to get that skin perked up. Enter my all-time fave, the REN glycol mask. It's popular for good reason. This treatment contains a cocktail of four different acids dedicated to the exfoliation of dead skin cells and the improvement of skin's overall tone and texture. It's made for slightly more mature skin (sigh, I guess that's me now), so it actually delivers on its promise to reduce hyperpigmentation and to firm up the face. Next stop, my thighs? Apply to damp skin, leave on for 10 minutes, wash off with a cloth (provided) and TADAAAA- my face is transformed into pure sunshine! What more could you want? (Diamonds, a personal chef, a full time housekeeper, my kids to listen to me, my husband to listen to me, my sanity....oh, sorry, I digress). Note: it says on the label "not suitable for sensitive skin"...I have sensitive skin and I don't have a problem, nonetheless just giving you a heads up.
Fresh Rose Face Mask: This mask is a cult favorite and has been at the top of beauty lists for several years. I am obsessed with it for its effectiveness, scent and purity of product. The mask itself is infused with actual rose petals, rosewater and algae guareenteed to tone and hydrate your skin. Are you impressed yet? This is the jar I grab first when I have minimal time and can't commit to my entire "masked' routine. It packs so much punch into my cheeks; I have no regrets going over budget for this one. Enough said.
Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Foam Mask: This mask is a take away version of Bliss Spa's Facial (the one that put them on the map). Bliss geniusly patented their oxygen technology and packaged it so now it can reside on a bathroom shelf near you. This fast acting mask will deliver a mega dose of vitamin C, detoxify and moisturize your skin leaving you looking seriously cheerleader peppy. Promises to get your face red carpet ready....Ok, rollllllling my eyes... Not sure how many of us have step and repeats to look forward to in our future but hey, if we did! Can be applied up to three times a week. I put about five pumps in-between my fingers, spread out evenly on my face, wait for it to get bubbly (you'll see what I mean when you try it) and wash off.
Well kids, there you have it. It's a a bit of a process (like writing this post!!!) but it will yield some pretty spectacular results. When people start oohing and awwing over your newly spiffed skin, you'll have these masks to thank. My work here is done. Adieu.
